Five exciting things to know about Chelsea new signing Pedro Lima.



Chelsea have secured the signing of sought-after Sport Recife right-back Pedro Lima, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing, but he’s revealed that the 2006-born star will play for French side Strasbourg next season instead.

Lima has already earned Under-17 honours with Brazil and is regarded as being among South America’s brightest crop of young emerging talents.

Here are five things yo know about Chelsea new signing Pedro Lima: 

1. PositionThe 17-year-old plays as a right-back for Sport Recife of the Brazilian second tier and has already made 16 first-team appearances. 

2. Scouted by Real Madrid,  Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea: 

Pedro Lima is a hot prospect. 

 He caught the eye of Manchester City and Liverpool, so his future looks bright.

City sent their scout Audrio Magalhaes to watch Lima recently, but Chelsea also had a representative watch him. Sport chief João Marcelo Barros revealed there are even more clubs coming over to see Lima in action.

He said: “There’s nothing very new there. Scouts from all over the world have been watching him. Maybe the news won’t get out, but a lot of scouts have come from abroad this year.”

3. Style of playLima isn’t afraid to get forward at right-back, leading to him contributed four goals at senior level. The young Brazilian loves to cut inside to supplement the attack, so he’s effective in both boxes. Lima is a technical player with quick feet and a good range of passing.

This talented player of so 17 years already has debuted in Brasileirãor Series B (second division), accumulating up to now 19 appearances with Sport Recife.  His technical quality, skill to move the ball and his capacity to centre and finish to goal, com.bined with an excellent fitness, have earned him a nickname in Brazil as they call him the 'new Cafú' (in allusion to the historical side Marcos Evangelista of Moraes), generating big expectations around him.

He’s an aggressive defender too, frequently turning over possession by beating his opponent to the ball.

 4. HonoursLima has already earned Under-17 honours with Brazil and is regarded as being among South America’s brightest crop of young emerging talents.

5. Transfer twistChelsea will pay 10 million for the 17-year-old South American prodigy, with the chance of loaning him to the French side of Strasbourg, which is high on their agenda. This is the next step in Chelsea’s multi-club model, as they have already loaned a few players like Angelo Matheus to the club to gain proper experience.

Six interesting things you did not know about Chelsea target Michael Olise.

  Michael Olise has been the subject of Chelsea's recent transfer links, and it appears the Blues have serious interest in the Winger.
