Chelsea have completed a loan deal for Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho.
The deal is understood to include an obligation to buy if certain thresholds are met.
Sancho has scored 12 goals and contributed six assists in 83 games for United since signing from Dortmund for £73m three years ago.
Sancho - who has 23 caps for England - fell out of favour at United last season after a public disagreement with Ten Hag.
The forward was welcomed back into Ten Hag's squad this summer but his only action so far this season was a brief appearance from the bench in the Community Shield.
Why Chelsea have signed Jadon Sancho:
During his time in the Manchester City youth setup, he established himself as one of the most exciting young wingers in the world before taking his talents to Borussia Dortmund. Sancho was still widely regarded as a winger when he joined the Red Devils in July 2021, but now he favours the number 10 role.
"He [Sancho] said very confidently that his favourite number [position] is 10 [central attacking midfield]," said the Borussia Dortmund boss in March 2024. "We know that it can be used very flexibly. But Julian Brandt and Marco Reus did really well in the ten."
With Chelsea already spoiled for choice on wingers, perhaps Maresca plans to use Sancho as a deputy to Cole Palmer or Christopher Nkunku in the number 10 role. The former Manchester City prospect would, of course, remain an option for the Blues on the wing, but maybe the Blues boss has a plan to revitalise his career."
On signing for Chelsea, Jadon Sancho revealed a phone call from Enzo Maresca persuaded him to join Chelsea on deadline day:
“I think it’s the manager who really drew me to the project,” Sancho told Chelsea’s official website.
“I knew him from his time with Pep Guardiola in Manchester City. He spoke to me on the phone about this project and what he was building here, and for a young player like myself it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get started."
On Maresca’s style, Sancho added: “They’re signing me for a reason and to contribute to the team, and I’m ready to do that.
“I enjoy his style of play. The wingers when they get on the ball, he loves them to go one versus one and be direct. We play a lot of one-twos with the 10s and the striker combination plays. It’s very attractive and it’s a style that I play.”
